Liquid Phase Sintering and Solid Phase Sintering of Diamond Segment
share:
There three steps during diamond mix batching process, firstly by dry-mixing , which is putting the metal binder ,diamonds and man-made binder together by continuous shaking , in order to make sure all of these items are even , this process is so important that will matters the stability of the segments , the quality will be worse if this is not done nicely .
The solvent must be added when wet-mixing after dry mixing , this is the second step of batching . this process can immobilize the powder , which will assist the further manufacturing process , Actually , the diamond segment batching process can follow the process of concrete batching like the percentage of concrete and sand .
The third step is to prepare the material, which is also called granulation, this process is being done by granulating machine. The concrete process is to put the segment mixture into the hopper on the upper part of the granulator, which is continuously fed by the screw conveyor into the internal container of the machine to make the coarse particles. By mechanical rolling, the coarse particles are transformed into the final small spherical or strip particles. It is then transported to a conveyor belt, where it dries and evaporates the solvent. The pelleting molding material flows into the collector for standby use.
The diamond segment produced by such a processing method can be mixed with the binder in a very uniform manner, and the uniform size of the particles can ensure the distribution of the diamond is also very uniform, so that the segment will be more stable. In addition, from the perspective of production efficiency, such a mixing method allows the segment to use fixed volume charge instead of quantitative charge, which also greatly improves the production efficiency.
First , we need to know what is liquid phase sintering and what is solid phase sintering. Liquid phase sintering involves soluble liquids in the entire sintering process. Solid phase sintering is a sintering process without the participation of liquid phase. Knowing this, we need to analyze the sintering process of the diamond segment.
In order to improve the moldability of the diamond segment pressing, a small amount of liquid paraffin is added to the powder used in the manufacture of diamond segment during mixing, and the paraffin wax turns into a liquid phase at a certain temperature. Of course, there are also many segment manufacturers that use a small amount of low-melting metal powder in the carcass binder. These metal powders have a low melting point. After forming a liquid phase during the sintering process, they are filled into the voids of the powder skeleton through capillary flow. In this way, due to the auxiliary fixation of the liquid phase material, the tightness of the diamond bit will be better. So is the diamond segment sintering process liquid phase sintering? In fact, this is not the case. There are three main reasons.
First of all, if the liquid phase material is too much, or the sintering temperature and pressure are too high, it is very easy to produce "overflow" during the sintering process, which will affect the density of the diamond segment. Therefore, during the sintering process, we put less than five percent of the liquid phase material (such as paraffin, tin, zinc, etc.) to prevent flow and increase the compactness of diamond segment.
Secondly, there are many details that need to be paid attention to in the temperature and pressure control of liquid-phase materials. Under contemporary industrial technology conditions, the characteristics of liquid-phase materials cannot be fully utilized. In the liquid phase sintering process, there are very high requirements for the solubility and adsorption of solid phase materials and liquid phase materials, which are the prerequisites that lead to difficulties in selecting liquid phase materials.
Finally, liquid phase sintering can only play an auxiliary role. Under strong impact, the liquid phase material can play a certain role in the tightness of the diamond segment. now, I believe everyone should understand that in the sintering of the diamond segment, the solid phase sintering is the mainstay, and the liquid phase sintering is supplemented by the mixed sintering (also called diversified sintering) processing principle.
