PDC (Polycrystalline Diamond Compacts, PDC for short) have some outstanding advantages such as high hardness, high wear resistance, high elastic modulus, isotropy, and high thermal conductivity. In recent years, PDC is widely used in some high-end machining tools, geological and petroleum drill bits, ceramic abrasive tools, stone processing tools, concrete tools, valve seat valve cores and other high wear-resistant equipment.
The application of PDC in industry :
A.Cutting tools. It can process non-ferrous metals, non-metals, hard alloys, ceramics, stone materials, glass and composite materials. When cutting non-metallic materials, the work life is 20-100 times than the cemented carbide tools, and sometimes it can reach more than 1,000 times;
B. Drill. PDC is widely used in petroleum exploration and geological drilling. The former Soviet Union used artificial polycrystalline diamond drill bits for drilling tests, and the average drilling depth of each drill bit was 50 times that of cemented carbide roller cone bits;
C. Wire processing tools. PDC can also be used as a wire drawing die to draw copper and copper alloys, tungsten, molybdenum and stainless steel. A PDC wire drawing die can draw 7kt copper wire before grinding, which is 200 times of cemented carbide die and 10 times of natural diamond, and the cost is only 1/3 of natural diamond;
D. Special chemical equipment.
